A planner's ledger for product launches, family days and team outings

A family day under one roof

A family day indoors sounds like a compromise until you see children's faces at the Rain Vortex. Jewel Changi Airport gives a company outing a covered, air-conditioned setting that still counts as a day out, with sights that toddlers and grandparents both remember. It also brings a challenge most parks do not: you share the building with shoppers and travellers all day.

Build around a home base

Most family days book one event space as a base and let families explore the public gardens and waterfall around it. The base holds check-in, the stage, food and a quiet corner. Ask the venue which spaces suit a daytime family programme and what each allows, because availability and conditions change.

Plan by age, not by headcount

  • Toddlers: soft play, colouring and seating close by for parents.
  • Primary school children: carnival games, face painting and a short magic or puppet show.
  • Teenagers: a photo trail or quiz they can tackle with friends.
  • Grandparents: comfortable seats near the stage and easy access to food and restrooms.

Get Out! Events' guide to children's zones and safety at a Jewel family day covers each age group in more detail, along with prizes and food for young guests.

Write the lost child plan first

In a busy public building, this is the part that cannot be improvised. Give every child a wristband with a parent's number, brief every crew member on the same steps, and name one meeting point inside your booked space that is easy to describe. Announce it at the start, then again before the lucky draw.

Make arrival easy

Families with prams, bags and tired children need precise directions from Changi Airport MRT or the car park to your base. Put greeters in bright shirts at the key turns, and ask the venue about lift access and pram parking near your space.

Keep the programme short

Young guests will not sit through long speeches. A welcome, a children's performance, a game round on stage and a lucky draw split into a few rounds is plenty. After that, let families wander at their own pace and enjoy the gardens together.
